Founders Series: Featuring Former World Bank President, Jim Yong Kim and PathAI Co-Founder & CEO, Andrew Beck

The Founders Series is a set of virtual events highlighting some of the most prominent Brown alumni founders in the University’s recent history. Events are split between the founding stories of seasoned entrepreneurs, and virtual community networking.

The fourth event of the Founders Series features Jim Yong Kim ‘82, Former President of the World Bank and Andrew Beck ‘02 MD ‘06, Co-Founder & CEO of PathAI. The event is hosted by Head of Neuroscience at Atlanta Therapeutics, Stefan McDonough ‘90.

Virtual Networking

The event will provide a venue for individuals in the Brown Alumni community to meet their next co-founder, advisor, partner, customer or employee. Via our virtual one-on-one networking, participants will engage with aspiring or established entrepreneurs, investors and both young and seasoned professionals alike.

Jim Yong Kim ‘82, Former President, World Bank

Prior to his tenure at the World Bank, Kim was the President of Dartmouth College, chair of the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Co-Founder and Executive Director of Partners In Health. He received MD and PhD degrees from Harvard University and holds a BS from Brown University.

Andrew Beck ‘02 MD ‘06, Co-Founder & CEO, PathAI

Prior to founding PathAI, Beck was on the faculty of Harvard Medical School in the Department of Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Prior to that, he completed residency and fellowship training in Anatomic Pathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology and a PhD in Biomedical Informatics at Stanford University. He earned his MD from Brown Medical School and holds a BA in History, also from Brown.

Stefan McDonough ‘90, Head of Neuroscience, Atalanta Therapeutics

Prior to joining Atalanta Therapeutics, McDonough was Head of Human Genetics at Pfizer. Previously, he was an Executive Director at Amgen, and prior to that, an Assistant Scientist at Marine Biological Laboratory. He completed his Postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and received his PhD from the California Institute of Technology. He holds a BS in Engineering from Brown University.
